How to exclude files or folders from scanning in TechGenie Antivirus

Do you have this large folder containing all files of any critical project? Do you want to skip a large folder which will delay the scanning process? Or do you want to exclude this folder from scanning which contain different types of applications for testing so that you do not want the scanning process to remove any files from the folder? In such scenarios, you need to exclude those files or folders from the scanning process. TechGenie Antivirus will allow you to exclude selected files and folders from all the future scans. It enables adding or removing specific files, folders or file extensions from scanning. By excluding specific files, folders and extensions from all scan processes, you can help speed up the scanning process and improve PC performance. The Exclusion of TechGenie Antivirus consists of two subcategories that are –

  • Files and Folders
  • Extensions

If you want to exclude any specific file or folder from scans, then follow these steps shown below:

  1. Open the ‘Antivirus’ window.
  2. Select ‘Antivirus’ tab and select ‘Preferences’.
  3. Click on ‘Exclusion’ and select ‘Files and Folders’.

After you have selected the file or the folder to exclude, you can simply add to the list by following these steps:

  1. Click the ‘Add’ button.
  2. Browse the file or folder that you want to be excluded from scanning.
  3. Then, click ‘OK’. Alternatively, you can type (or copy and paste) the path to the file or folder in the edit field.

b. Click ‘Enable Exclusion’.

You can also remove the files or folders from the list of exclusions, if you need to. To remove those files and folders, follow these steps given below:

  1. Select the file or the folder from the table.
  2. Click the ‘Remove’ button. Thus, the selected file or folder will be included in all future scans.

Similarly, you can also select a certain type of file extension to exclude from your future scans to prevent TechGenie Antivirus to skip any fie with that extension, irrespective of the location of the item on your computer.
